Mice to Meet You

I once worked for an animal welfare nonprofit that took their mission a little too far. Like “all life is precious, so we don’t believe in pest control” kind of far.

One year, we hired a new Chief Development Officer who brought in a BIG bag of chocolates to give out to staff as a part of her welcome event. She was really excited and wanted to make a good impression. After the event, she left the bag of chocolates in her office overnight and the next day the chocolates were gone. Instead, mouse droppings…as far as the eye could see.

Needless to say, we got pest control after that.
