Mother Bummer
It was my first year as a Development Director and my first big fundraising event—about 1,500 guests. I invited my mom and was excited for her to see all my hard work and creativity. The event was a huge success and we beat our fundraising goal!
A few days after the event we are all out to dinner with the rest of the family and I am still waiting for any affirmation or congratulations from my mom, which she clearly wasn’t giving.
So I finally spoke up and asked loudly down the table, “mom, what did you think of my event?”
She calls loudly back, “well, I’ll tell you one thing. It was really cold in that ballroom!”
Thanks, mom. That’s the one thing I wasn’t in charge of.
